The Greece 5 Drachmes was a currency denomination that was used in Greece until it was replaced by the Euro in 2002. The 5 Drachmes coin was first introduced in 1954 and was made of copper-nickel. It had a diameter of 24 mm and a weight of 5.5 grams. On the obverse side of the coin was an image of King Paul I, who was the King of Greece from 1947 to 1964. The words "ΒΑΣΙΛΕΙΟΝ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ" ("Kingdom of Greece") were inscribed around the image. On the reverse side of the coin was the denomination of "5 ΔΡΑΧΜΕΣ" ("5 Drachmes") in the center, with the date of minting on either side. The reverse side also featured an image of an owl, which is a symbol of the Greek goddess Athena and a common symbol on Greek coins throughout history.
